Hybrid Concept Cars

Ford Fusion Hybrid Concept
The four-cylinder engine delivers 160 horsepower, and can be paired with a five-speed manual or automatic transaxle. Also good news for the environment, the Duratec 23 I-4 will be rated as a Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (PZEV) in California . It will be the Ford brand's third PZEV application, after the Escape Hybrid and Focus PZEV. The standard Duratec 23 and five-speed manual returns 23 miles per gallon (mpg) city, and 31 mpg highway.
Mercury Milan Hybrid Concept
The Mercury Milan is another in an impressive string of new models from Ford Motor Company that demonstrates a clear commitment to creating a better world. Vapor traps, quick-heating catalysts and emissions software help the Duratec 23 to qualify for Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (PZEV) certification in California. In calendar year 2008, Mercury will offer Milan with a hybrid powertrain – making it the fifth full hybrid in the Ford Motor Company stable.
Nissan Altima Hybrid Concept
The Altima Hybrid is on its way, coming to market some time in 2006 as a 2007 model. With the Altima hybrid, Nissan hopes to offer consumers a sedan with V6 power and fuel efficiency that betters many compact vehicles. While most hybrid cars place a premium on fuel economy, Nissan's primary focus seems to be on acceleration and performance.
Nissan Hypermini Hybrid Concept
Lithium-ion batteries reduce weight while still maintaining an impressive driving range. The revolutionary aluminum spaceframe is lighter and more rigid than a comparable steel body. Many of the Hypermini's plastic raw materials are actually recycled from end-of-use vehicles, using a process that Nissan pioneered. Special tires let you drive up to 50 miles in case of a flat. It's also economical, costing as little as 2-cents per mile to drive.
Toyota Alessandro Volta Hybrid Concept
The Giugiaro-designed carbon-fiber body seats three people abreast and features "drive-by-wire" controls, allowing you to position the steering wheel and pedals in front of any one of them. And the Volta's 408-hp Hybrid Synergy Drive® (a 3.3-liter V6 with an electric motor for each axle) not only delivers 435 miles on a 13.7-gallon tank, but 0-60 acceleration in a mere four seconds.
Toyota Camry Hybrid Concept
As with all other Toyota vehicles featuring Hybrid Synergy Drive®, the Camry Hybrid powertrain will be engineered to achieve the model's specific performance specifications and to exceed buyer expectations. The company is on target to produce 300,000 hybrid vehicles annually by 2005, and one million by the end of the decade. Camry Hybrid follows Prius and Highlander Hybrid as the third Toyota hybrid in the U.S. market.
Toyota CS&S Hybrid Concept
The CS&S is a 4-wheel-drive mid-engine 2+2 sports car. Employing Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive,® an electric motor drives the front wheels, while a gas engine and electric motor in combination drive the rear. CS&S also unveils "Toyota Space Touch," where the driver selects functions by "touching" holographic projections.

Hybrid Concept SUVs

Chevrolet Equinox Hybrid Concept
Chevrolet's Equinox should be available as hybrid model in 2005 for the 2006 model year. Little information on the Equinox Hybrid is available at this point, other than it will likely share a hybrid system similar or indentical to the Tahoe Hybrid, which is expected to receive a 30% boost in fuel economy from Chevrolet's Hybrid Technology.
Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid Concept
The two-mode full hybrid will be launched in 2007 in two of GM’s most popular full-size SUVs, the Chevy Tahoe and GMC Yukon. Specs include Two 60 kW motors, 300-volt battery pack, Vortec V-8 engine with Displacement on Demand, cam phasing, late-intake valve closure and very high compression ratio, and more.
GMC Yukon Hybrid Concept
The two-mode full hybrid will be launched in 2007 in two of GM’s most popular full-size SUVs, the Chevy Tahoe and GMC Yukon. When combined with Displacement on Demand (DOD), the two-mode full hybrid will enable the Vortec V-8-powered SUVs to deliver a composite fuel efficiency improvement of 25 percent. 25-percent composite improved fuel economy over single mode systems. The system uses an electrically variable transmission with two hybrid modes of operation that optimize power and torque for various driving conditions.
Saturn VUE Hybrid Concept
General Motors is gearing up to launch a new affordable hybrid system that will deliver a good fuel economy savings and a real payback for consumers. Saturn will be the first to debut a new GM hybrid system in mid-2006, when it introduces the 2007 VUE Green Line. The Belt Alternator Starter (BAS) Hybrid System combines sophisticated controls with a precision electric motor/generator mated to the engine. An affordable hybrid system that will deliver good fuel economy improvement. Hybrid functions include Engine off when vehicle is stopped, Early fuel cutoff during deceleration with torque smoothing, Electric power assist, Regenerative braking, and more.

Hybrid Concept Trucks

Chevrolet Silverado Hybrid Concept
Chevrolet Silverado hybrid truck achieves 10-15% fuel economy improvement and 37% reduction in regulated emissions while providing uncompromised power and utility. In addition to fuel saving from engine shutoff under idle conditions and braking regeneration, the system also provides clean electrical power via the 4 onboard 120 volt, 20 amp auxiliary power outlets (APO). Highlights include a Vortec 5300 V8 engine, Onboard 20-amp, 2400-watt generator, Four 120-volt accessory power outlets, Power windows, locks, and mirrors, Custom Cloth 40/20/40 split-bench front seats, Auto-dimming rearview mirror.
GMC Sierra Hybrid Concept
The hybrid system in GM's full-size pickup rucks gets more miles from each gallon of gas by capturing energy through regenerative braking, shutting the engine off at low vehicle speeds or idle and shutting the fuel off instantly any time the truck is coasting or braking. The hybrid propulsion package is available as an option on GM’s full-size pickups. The V8 engine powers the battery to run the wheels in low-demand situations, improving fuel economy 10 percent, without compromising performance.
